Sales last month edged up 0.5% over those of the previous July with a total of 746 homes exchanging hands. 620 detached homes sold in July – up 5.6% from the previous year – however, condo sales dipped 18.7% as compared to July 2011. “The reason for this is pretty obvious,” says Barb Whitney, President of London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR).

At the end of the second quarter of 2012, the real estate market in LSTAR's jurisdiction was strong, steady and reliable, says LSTAR President, Barb Whitney. 

Sales last month were down 9.6% over those of the previous June with 663 detached homes exchanging hands and 162 condos. This represents a 10.5% decrease in sales for detached homes and a 5.8 % decrease in condo sales. However, “Year-to-date sales are still ahead of last year by 3.3%,” points out Barb Whitney, President of London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR). “That's the stat to focus on for now.”

Sales last month were up over those of the previous May by 3.5%, with 751 detached homes exchanging hands and 162 condos. This represents a 7% increase in sales for detached homes and a 10 % decrease in condo sales. “May's figures underscore the fact that our local market remains vibrant,” advised Barb Whitney, President of London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR). “What we're seeing now in terms of sales is more on a par with previous Mays going back to the turn of the millennium.”

Sales last month outstripped those of the previous April by 17.3%, with 716 detached homes exchanging hands and 164 condos. “Although we're obviously delighted by these figures, we need to put them in perspective,” advises Barb Whitney, President of London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR).

In March, local real estate sales decreased 4.8% over those of previous year, with 623 detached homes and 147 condos exchanging hands over the course of the month. 

February 2012 saw a 15.4% increase in local real estate sales over the previous year, with 500 detached homes and 137 condos exchanging hands over the course of the month.
